The death of Mandriva - 16th January 2012?

For the full details see:

http://forum.mandriva.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=136549

Well, let's make it short: everything was fine, but there is a big problem: a minor shareholder (Linlux) refuses the capital injection required for Mandriva to continue, even though the Russian investor had offered to bear it alone .

Except turnaround Mandriva should cease activity Jan. 16 (Sorry for the bad news, for those who did not already know).

Perhaps that explains the fork by Rosalabs.

  1. What has happened to the best Linux Distro bar none, considering the ease of use by anyone who has half a brain Mandriva / Mandrake is so easy to install I would let an eight year old install it. I've been using Mandriva from the time it was called Mandrake I tried Redhat and that Brown Ubuntu one too. But for the simplicity of showing Oh large is that drive I want to install not by numbers but a bar chart my god I have found none that show something that simple. Ok OpenSuse is very nice to install if you have memory up the yen Oh then the glitch of stopping. Because of your graphic card is not the one it likes you have to install it by text if you don't it will stop in the middle of the install what the hell is that? Ok I tend to rant a little, any ways when I install Mandriva I can sit back let it do its thing no must no fuss, click, click and your done the one and only problem that I had with Mandriva is unless you know what your doing you can not login as Root. As all of you know Root is God in the Linux world and Root has no mercy it can destroy all in its wake. So maybe you should take heed for the other distro's that let you login as root.
